July 13-15, 2003

Visitation and Funeral Services were held in the Chicago area on July 13-15, 2003.  Visitation was at Kolssak Funeral Home in Wheeling on Sunday, July 13.  Family and friends met the next morning at the Funeral home where several Eulogies were stated (see video below).  The procession to St. Mary's Catholic Church for the Funeral mass was followed by a lunch gathering at the Buffalo Grove Wyndham Hotel.  Mark was cremated privately, with family members present on Tuesday, July 15.  Though we have yet to send out thank-you cards to the many friends and family who participated and contributed, I must state that we appreciate the support greatly - it has been very heartfelt.  It was wonderful to see the impact that Mark had on his close friends and family, as this was demonstrated by their gathering from many parts of the country and world.

September 05, 2003

A memorial service was planned by Adelyn Hu and Mark Gebert in Los Altos, CA (S.F. Bay area) on September 5, 2003.  Friends, family and co-workers were all invited to attend.  Pastor Mel Lyons led the service by reading scriptures and reading a biography written by my sister.  David Yang, Mike Hsiao, Mark Gebert, Terry Wu, Patty Yang, Karen Kuo and Vicky Su all shared personal thoughts and memories of Mark.  My video memorial was played and copies were available to all attendees.  Many pictures and memorabilia were also shared and displayed.  Appreciation goes to Adelyn and Mark for setting the date and making the arrangements.  I would like to acknowledge each of you who made a donation to this memorial service.  Though Adelyn collected everything and will be sending her thank you notes, Mark's family also wishes to extend gratitude to everyone who contributed and attended.  We would like to specially thank Karen and Vicky for traveling from Taiwan to share their memories and personally express their condolences to my family.  Per Adelyn, excess contributions will be donated to the First Baptist Church.  Details of the memorial service may be found by clicking here.
